Name: Sophie Matthew

About me:

I am based in North London and I very much enjoy teaching both Mindfulness for Health and Mindfulness for Stress courses. I have had a regular personal meditation practice for several years and I have found the Breathworks approach to be transformative in my own life. I am therefore delighted to be able to share it with others.

I have ankylosing spondylitis (a form of painful inflammatory arthritis) so I live with chronic pain and understand the importance of a mindful approach to both pain and stress. The Breathworks approach brings the ability to respond rather than react to life’s difficulties and make profound changes in our lives, increasing wellbeing and reducing suffering and stress.

Like all Breathworks teachers I adhere to the UK Network for Mindfulness Teachers Good Practice Guidelines and as part of this have regular supervision and am committed to keeping my training up to date. I am currently studying for a Masters in teaching mindfulness based approaches at the Centre for Mindfulness Practice and Research at Bangor University, North Wales. I am also a qualified teacher with the Mindfulness in Schools Project able to teach 8 week .B foundations mindfulness courses for teachers.
