Name: Stephen Whitehouse
I trained as an actor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama leaving in 1979 to work for over twenty five years as an actor and holistic voice teacher. With a view of the human voice as a bridge between ‘inner’ and ‘outer’ reality, major teaching influences include the work of Kristin Linklater and ‘Freeing the Natural Voice’, Cicely Berry, Enrique Pardo and the Alexander Technique.
My enthusiasm and passion for mindfulness began during a period of ‘unwellness’ between 2003-2006: for me the therapeutic benefits were wonderful, incontestable and intriguing. Confirming my experience I read Vidyamala Burch’s ‘Living Well with Pain and Illness’ in 2008. My mindfulness journey began.
Since 2015 I have been committed to a daily formal practice and study leading to accreditation as a meditation teacher in January 2018. I have extensive experience of working with people from all backgrounds and with diverse abilities. Also, I have a specific interest in the application of mindfulness to performers from all creative industries: actor, singer, musician, writer, director, artist, poet, sculptor etc. For those wishing to release creative energies or facing creative difficulties please contact me.
